WITHDRAWN Analysis of single station, multicomponent teleseismic data has been recently performed with success in high-resolution imaging of shallow crustal structures (up to ~10 km depth), bridging the gap in between fine-scale (~km) near-surface seismic exploration and large-scale (several tens to hundreds and thousands of kilometers) deep passive-source imaging. A key idea in such single station data analysis is to utilize the frequency dependence of amplitude ratios between the horizontal and vertical components of teleseismic body-waves, which is sensitive to the absolute velocity value and its variation with depth at the target station. The associated single-station based new imaging method is capable of achieving a vertical resolution of ~0.5 km, about one order of magnitude higher than other teleseismic methods commonly used for shallow crustal imaging. Here we present the details of the method and its applications to a number of continental tectonic zones of various structural features. We show that the method is flexible and effective for both cases of dense arrays and sparse station distributions. In particular, by expanding the single-station analysis scheme to mitigate the effects of strong noise and data insufficiency, we demonstrate the applicability of the imaging method to the InSight low-frequency marsquake data in constraining the subsurface structure of Mars.
