Lessons and Goals of the Colorado Geological Survey Seismic Network
Session: Regional Earthquake Centers: Highlights and Challenges [Poster] Type:Poster Date:4/28/2020 Time: 08:00 AM Room: Ballroom Description:
The Colorado Geological Survey (CGS) Seismic Network began with the adoption of four former Transportable Array stations. Since then, the CGS has installed four additional permanent stations throughout the state. To date, the primary focus of the network is to assist in the monitoring and locating of small magnitude natural and induced events. CGS stations are also used by the USGS for locating events worldwide. We will be presenting the status of our current network, our goals for its future and the lessons we have learned in its development. Specifically, we will address our proposed locations for new permanent stations, our collaborations with other research and educational institutions and our interactions with the community as a whole. Additionally, we will discuss our goal of creating a rapid-deploy portable instrument pool and the various applications and research opportunities such a pool could provide.
